The cultivar name of this Tecoma is not known, but like all Esperanzas, this trumpet bush is one of the best perennials to add to any gardens with tough growing conditions. Exotic-looking but easy-to-grow and even hardy, it is a dream plant that is heat-tolerant, pest-resistant and drought-tolerant once established. In warmer zones, it grows into a semi-dwarf handsome woody shrub covered with lush, opposite, pinnately compound leaves year-round. The foliage drops in cooler zones but will resprout once winter is over. With a long blooming period from late spring till mid fall, it is a reliable supply of nectar to the hummingbirds. Similar to the taller 'Orange Jubilee', its huge clusters of trumpet-shaped flowers are spectacular, though distinctly more reddish. Hardy from zone 7 upwards. 4 feet tall and wide. Full sun. Well-drained soil. Drought-tolerant. Fresh, hard-to-find seeds, harvested 12/2025.
