Puya venusta, 20 seeds
This perennial is yet another extremely gorgeous, rare and unusual bromelaid related to pineapples. Like the Turquoise Blue Puya (Puya berteroniana), Puya venusta too hails from Chile. When not in bloom, it is an impressive xeriphytic rosette with silvery spiny foliage. In late spring when it blooms, it is the epitome of "WOW". Tall pink flowering stalks emerge from the clump seemingly out from no-where, and then from huge, pine-cone-like clusters atop the stiff stems, beautiful blue/purple flowers opens up. Hardy from zone 9 onwards. 8 feet tall, 5 feet wide. Full sun and warm soil. Drought tolerant when established. Hard-to-find seeds, harvested 12/2023.
