This Jewelweed is native to the Himalayas, northern India, Kashmir, Nepal and Pakistan. A lovely, rather variable species in terms of color and habit, all forms nevertheless have large, beautiful, yellow/pale yellow orchid-like flowers borne in loose racemes. Spotted interior adds intricacy to each bloom. Here in California, Impatiens scabrida is a vigorous grower and prolific bloomer from mid summer onwards. Hardy from zone 8b onwards. 2 feet tall and wide. Part shade. Rich, well-drained soil. Regular watering. Hard-to-find fresh seeds, harvested 07/2025.
