Blooming in late spring and through summer, its orangy-red flowers at are once penstemon-like, honeysuckle-like and lobelia-like, tubular and very showy. Drought-tolerant and somewhat deer-proof, it is also butterfly larvae plant that is attractive to hummingbirds and bees. Hardy from zone 6b onwards. 5 feet tall and wide. Full sun to part shade. Well-drained soil. Drought-tolerant once established. Fresh seeds, harvested 10/2024.
