A terrific rhizomatous herbaceous perennial from Europe and Central Asia, Iris sibirica grows as a clump with long green sword-like leaves. Blooms from late spring to early summer, the flowers come after all the dutch and bearded counterparts are done, extending the iris season in the garden. These are are extremely distinctive, rich purple with yellow throat. Highly adaptable and able to thrive in moist soils where others will not. Hardy from zone 3 onwards. Full sun to part shade. 4 feet tall, 2 feet wide. Slightly-acidic soils. Fresh seeds, harvested 09/2023.
