Native to Baja California and Hawaii, this hard-to-find Salvia relative is a big and bold treat in the hummingbirds gardens. Vibrant purplish-red blooms on see-through flower spikes from summer through fall. Large, gray-green, arrow-shaped, felty, deliciously aromatic foliage. Lepechinia hastata is deer resistant as well. Hardy from zone 7 upwards. 4 feet tall and wide. Full sun. Any well-drained garden soils. Average water. Hard-to-find seeds, harvested 05/2021.
