Solanum rantonnetii, 9 seeds
Like the Blue Hibiscus, this perennial doesn't has blue flowers at all. A very showy evergreen shrub from Paraguay with a long season of bloom, Solanum rantonnetii is often covered with masses of large, fragrant, deep royal purple blossoms with yellow centers. Here in California, it flowers almost year-round. Absolutely gorgeous whenever form you train it into -- standalone tree, shrub, topiary, container specimen etc. Often sold as plants/cuttings in nurseries/catalogs as seeds are hard to come by. Hardy from zone 8 upwards. 25 feet tall and wide (can be kept very much smaller by heavy pruning). Full sun. Any well-drained soil. Regular water, drought-tolerant when established. Rare seeds, fresh harvested 10/2024.
