One of the very few joys at a botanically bereft time of the year, this hard-to-find deciduous native shrub is studded with capburst of long showy pink flower clusters during winter. Fabulously showy blooms are not hindered by the green, handsome, irregularly toothed, maple-like leaves, and are attractive to hummingbirds and bees. Hardy from zone 5 upwards. Full shade to part shade. 12 feet tall, 3 feet wide. Well-drained, mildly acidic soil. Average water, heat and drought tolerant. Fresh seeds, harvested 07/2025.
