Salvia muelleri, 7 seeds
The Royal Autumn Sage is a hard-to-find perennial that blooms from summer through fall, first year from seeds if started early. Violet, two-lipped flowers with two white marks on the lower lip. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Since Salvia muelleri is closely related to the Autumn Sages (S. greggii), its leaves are similiar too -- opposite, small and narrowly oblong. Often confused with Indigo Autumn Sage (Salvia coahuilensis), which is more of a bluish tint. Hardy from zone 7 onwards. 2 1/2 feet tall and wide. Full sun to part shade, and any garden soils. Drought tolerant when established, can take extreme sun and heat. Hard-to-find seeds, harvested 11/2024.
