Vigorous vine most commonly grown for its purple fruit and juice. Passiflora edulis blooms from early spring onwards till fall, but may occasionally flowers year round if conditions are right. The flowers are a nice white and purple, and generally 3 inches wide. Flowers will self-pollinate to provide showy green fruits that turn purple upon ripening. The fruit is quite tasty, often served fresh in the tropics. Plant generally starts fruiting in its second year, so you don't have to wait long to enjoy the fruit (pun intended!) of your labour. Leaves are deeply 3-lobed, dark-green and glossy. Hardy from zone 9 onwards. Reaches a height of 20 feet in a single year. Full sun or part shade where summers are very hot. Frequent watering and well-drained soils. Fresh seeds, harvested 08/2022.
