Iochroma australe/Acnistus australis 'Alba' 10 seeds
Iochroma australe is another outstanding and gorgeous perennial from Central America. This rare relative of the Angel Trumpets (Brugmansia) has smaller leaves and flowers, but is just as spectacular. A gem that blooms from spring through summer, the Alba variety bears inch-long, pendant, flaring bell-shaped flowers that are a wonderful pure white. In full bloom, Acnistus australis is pretty breathtaking as flowering is so dense and abundant that it is totally smothered. Hardy from zone 9 onwards. 6 feet tall and wide. Full sun to part shade. Average garden soil. Moderate water needs, do not overwater. Usually available as plants or cuttings. Very rare seeds, harvested 07/2024.
