Salvia involucrata, 7 seeds
A robust and spectacular back-of-border perennial that brings on a long and prolific display from mid summer onwards, this Rosebud Sage is aptly common named. Its masses of gorgeous, rose-magenta, tubular flowers open up from large, rounded buds resembling those of roses. Absolutely adored by the hummingbirds, it is handsome also in its luxurious, lime-green leaves held on pinkish-red leaf stalk. Bought just as Salvia involucrata, cultivar name is not known. Hardy from zone 7 upwards. 8 feet tall, 5 feet feet wide. Full sun to part shade. Rich garden soils. Regular water. Usually available as plants or cuttings, hard-to-find fresh seeds, harvested 11/2024.
