Stachys albotomentosa/coccinea, 6 seeds
Native to Mexico, this pretty and unusual form of the common lamb's ear is at once simple yet complex. Forming a low-growing mound with silver, felt-like leaves, it might be construed as just another nondescript, drought-tolerant plant, except that it has a twist -- its foliage is pleasantly fragrant, smelling remarkably like 7-Up! Long blooming starting in sumer with self-branching stalks of salmon-coral flowers that are somewhat Salvia-like. Deer resistant but attractive to hummingbirds and bees. Hardy from zone 8 onwards. 2 feet tall, 4 feet wide. Full sun to part shade. Low water needs. Fresh, hard-to-find seeds, harvested 12/2024.
