Native to Brazil and Argentina, the Bog Sage is a rare and wonderful addition to any garden and does extremely well in both wet and dry conditions, despite its common name. The Royal Horticultural Society of UK has recognized its virtures and given it its prestigious Award Of Garden Merit. Salvia uliginosa spreads fairly rapidly to make a substantial clump of tall, thin, deeply grooved stems, giving it a fairy-like, graceful appearance, especially when there is a slight breeze. Flowering begins in summer and continues till frost. The bright, beautiful, azure-blue flowers each has a white beeline, and are absolutely gorgeous. Hardy from zone 6 onwards. 6 feet tall, 4 feet wide. Full sun to part shade. Adaptable to most soil types. Adaptable to moisture level in the soil. Usually available only in plants/cuttings form.
