Iochroma australe x cyaneum 'Purple Prince', 10 seeds
A new interspecies hybrid between Iochroma australe and I. cyaneum, 'Purple Prince' is quite a delight! Having the best of both worlds, it scores the long tubular flowers of I. cyaneum with the flaring bell-shaped form from I. australe. The result is blooms that are larger than either parent but shorter than I. grandiflora. Flowering almost year round here in California. Really eye-catching! Hardy from zone 8 onwards. 6 feet tall and wide. Full sun to part shade. Average garden soil. Moderate water needs, do not overwater. Usually available only in plant or cutting form. Last picture is a comparison of flower shape/size from left to right are I. cyaneum, Purple Prince and I. grandiflora. Usually available as plants or cuttings, exclusive fresh seeds, harvested 11/2024.
