Possibility the most dramatic of all Angel Trumpet trees, this small tree/shrub from the mountaineous regions of South America is easily distinguished from others by the shape and color of its flowers. Blooms in flushes throughout the year here in California, Brugmansia sanguinea is extremely spectacular, easily covered by gazillions of huge, long trumpet-shaped, pendulous flowers that are satiny, scarlet-red with yellow throats. Hardy from zone 9 onwards. 15 feet tall, 8 feet wide. Part shade. Rich, moist soil. Regular water. Hard-to-find fresh seeds, harvested 11/2024.
