Salvia microphylla 'Berkeley Barb', 10 seeds
A backross of Salvia microphylla 'Berzekeley' to S. microphylla 'UCB', this is yet another Monterey Bay nursery introduction. A more compact plant than 'Berzerkeley' with blooms that are a lighter pink contrasted by a darker calyx. This great perennial does well under various light conditions, being a dense lower plant clothed in glossy, triangular, margined, black-currant scented leaves year-round. Flowers almost year-round, attracting lots of butterflies and hummingbirds. Hardy from zone 7 onwards. 2 feet tall, 4 feet wide. Full sun to half-day of sun, and any well-drained garden soils. Drought tolerant when established, can take extreme sun and heat. Also tolerant of regular water on a weekly basis if you want to interplant this with other plants that need more water. Fresh seeds, harvested 06/2023.
