Salvia gesneraeflora 'Stained Calyx', 10 seeds
Salvia gesneraeflora is a highly desirable perennial with very attractive, huge, vivid red, softly hairy flowers and green calyx. It is a very valuable, multi-branched plant that blooms from mid winter through late spring, feeding the hungry hummingbirds at a time when few plants are flowering. Exotic and spectacular in full bloom too. Fresh spring-green, heart-shape leaves. This particular cultivar is yet to be named/identified, it is not the species with the green calyx, nor the cultivar "Tequila" with black calyx nor the mountain form with dark red calyx. Its calyx is green with purplish tip, suspect it to be a spot of 'Tequila'. 10 feet tall, 8 feet wide. Full sun to part shade. Rich, well-drained soil. Regular watering. Hardy from zone 9 onwards. Exclusive, rare seeds, harvested 03/2024 - 04/2024.
