Native to only a small area in Peru, the Andean Sage is also rarely seen in gardens in the US. Salvia discolor grows as a herbaceous scandent perennial distinct from others by its many wiry, white, sticky inflorescence carrying very unusual black flowers framed by green calyces. Blooming period is from summer through fall here in California. Mistletoe-green, ovate foliage with a lower silver surface. Hardy from zone 8 onwards. Half-day sun. 3 feet tall and wide. Well-drained soils. Fresh, hard-to-find seeds, harvested 04/2024 - 05/2024.
