Pavonia rubra/missionum, 5 seeds
Chances are that you have never heard of Pavonia rubra even though you may be a collector of plants in the Hibiscus family. This very rarely seen native of South America is a small flowered relative normally seen only in botanical gardens. It grows into an upright shurbby perennial and can bloom while still relatively small. Its orangy-red flowers with yellow center make a wonderful splash of color in the fall. An unusual characteristic is the presence of a sticky resin on the leaves. No zone hardiness info, sorry. 6 feet tall, 5 feet wide. Full sun to light shade. Any garden soil. Moderate water needs. Hard-to-find exclusive seeds, harvested 10/2015.
