Scrophularia calliantha, 15 seeds
Endemic to the Canary Islands where it is listed as critically endangered, Scrophularia calliantha is almost unhead of outside of its native range. And such a shame for this is possibly the most flamboyant member in its family. A huge plant with handsome, dark green, textured foliage, it blooms from late spring through summer with large clusters of fiery-red, curiously shaped, relatively large (as far as figwort is concerned) blooms with yellow centers.A favorite of hummingbirds as well. Hardy from zone 9 onwards. 6 feet tall and wide. Full sun to part shade. Well-drained soil. Drought-tolerant once established. Exclusive fresh seeds, harvested 06/2016.
Our website for actively-growing plants and cuttings (eclecticplants.ecrater.com) is now re-opened starting 6/2/2014. Cuttings of this species are available there.
